Mawar is an amazing women. No matter how hard her life’s lessons, she will love, laugh and smile and be grateful. She takes her life with deep responsibility, never trying to get something for free, but rather giving instead. She knows deeply inside that the magical ingredient is gratitude.

She married into a family after her husband’s previous wife had died and had two more children with him, taking care of his son of the previous marriage as well.

The father, her husband, like many villagers, does not have a regular job, but he will work whenever given an opportunity. That way again, Mawar is the breadwinner of the family, and yet also having other family members who depend on her income, such as her parents-in-law.

Any and all help in Bali is so very welcomed, as the economic state of affairs in Bali, a mostly rural country, is still very much at the level of a third world nation, although it has the makings of a second world nation. But back in the hinterlands, in the villages far away from the rush of tourism, Balinese are still poor. BUT nevertheless they carry their heads high and their hearts are wide open.
